Investigation Summary
Employee #1 was on an 8 ft stepladder, installing computer wiring in the ceiling of the second floor of a building. He was of short stature, and the stepladder did not provide him with enough height for the job he was performing. Employee #1 lost his balance as he was working overhead and fell backward, striking his head on the cement floor. He sustained a life-threatening concussion, and when the paramedics arrived they had to revive him with defibrillating paddles. Employee #1 was transported by Life Flight to University Medical Center, where he remained in a coma for three days. He is expected to make a full recovery.
