Employee injured in fall from flat roof

Employee #1 was tack welding steel decking on a flat 20 ft high roof that had a warning barrier 6 ft back from the leading edge. Employee #1 was working outside the warning barrier when the welding lead became hung up on the other side of the roof. He tugged to free it and the lead came loose. Employee #1 fell back on his buttocks and his momentum caused him to roll off the edge of the roof. He fell to the ground, landing on his buttocks, back, and arm. Employee #1 suffered two compressed vertebrae and a fractured wrist.
