Investigation Summary
On September 1, 1998, Employee #1 was unloading hops onto an inclined conveyor that fed into a baler when a 4 ft square screen that had been placed on a hop eruption fell onto the conveyor. He went over the guardrail onto the moving conveyor to remove the screen. Employee #1 was approximately 10 ft off the ground when he either fell or jumped, landing on his back. He sustained multiple contusions and was taken to the hospital, where he was held for observation.
