Investigation Summary
At approximately 10:45 a.m. on September 27, 2017, Employee #1 was painting the exterior of a three-story apartment complex. He used a 40 ft Werner aluminum extension ladder to reach the area he needed to paint. As he relocated the ladder from the side of the building to the back side of the building, the ladder made contact with a phase conductor on a 7,200 volt, overhead high voltage power line. The power line was running parallel with the side of the building and located approximately 5.5 feet away from the building wall. Electricity flowed through the metal ladder and into him and electrocuted him. Employee #1 also received electric burns on both of his hands and burns and tissue damage to both of his feet.
