Employee injured when swather falls off jacks

On April 1, 1997, Employee #1, of Roman Galvin Tire in Bakersfield, CA, and a coworker were w changing the left front steering wheel of a hay swather. Employee #1 used two jacks to elevate the swather; the coworker then removed the tire and went back to the service truck. Employee #1 started to put on the new tire when he realized that the swather needed to be raised higher. He began to jack up the swather when it came off the jacks and fell, pinning him. The coworker returned, jacked up the swather, and rescued Employee #1. Emergency personnel were called, and Employee #1 was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital, where he was admitted for four days with serious injuries.
