Investigation Summary

At approximately 6:00 a.m. on November 12, 2002, Employee #1, a packer for Paramount Farms, was working at the Laundenburg packing machine folding boxes. when she sustained a fracture to her left leg. A forklift had entered the building from the outside carrying a load of empty pallets. After entering the building, he turned left at a high speed. The forklift operator lost control of the load and the pallets came off the forks, striking Employee #1's left leg, resulting in a fracture. Emergency personnel were called and Employee #1 was transported by ambulance to Kern Medical Center, where she was admitted for treatment.
