Employee injured when finger lacerated by table saw

At 3:30 p.m. on April 20, 2001, Employee #1 was employed by Valley Plastics, a company which fabricates and distributes acrylic plastic products. Employee #1 injured his index finger on the left hand while cutting a piece of acrylic material on a table saw. Employee #1 was distracted by conversing with a coworker, and the plastic material kicked back at him from the blade. Employee #1 was hospitalized with a gash wound where the tendon of his left index finger was severed. A hand specialist surgically repaired his index finger.
