Investigation Summary

Employee #1 was not an actual employee, but the father of a man who was the sole owner and employee of his own landscaping and tree trimming service. The company had been hired to trim the tops of five cypress trees on a residential property in Los Angeles, CA, and Employee #1 had offered to assist his son. He was working in the rear of the yard when he fell from n approximately 35 ft tall tree, landing on an area of the ground that was part dirt and part cement. Employee #1 was transported to the Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center, where he died of multiple blunt force trauma to the head. There were no direct witnesses to the accident, and Victim #1's harness, leg straps and lanyards showed no signs of distress.
