Investigation Summary
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on October 25, 2005, Employee #1 was working as a welder for Carson Trailer, Inc., which manufactures cargo trailers, car haulers, and a full line of sport trailers. Employee #1 had been working for Carson Trailer as a welder for six years prior to the accident. On the day of the accident, Employee #1 was retrieving fenders for installation on trailers. The fenders were stacked on two separate pallets that were placed one on top of the other. The top pallet, which held approximately 75 fenders, was unstable and not secured. When Employee #1 cut one of the metal straps that were tied around the fenders, the top pallet fell on him. It landed on his pelvis, fracturing one of his hips. He yelled for help, and few of his coworkers assisted in removing the load. He was transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He was hospitalized for approximately seven days.
