Investigation Summary
At approximately 9:40 a.m. on June 14, 2005, Employee #1, a painter, was painting balcony railings of an apartment complex using a 20-ft aluminum portable extension-ladder. Employee #1 fell back, head first, as he attempted to take a step down. Employee #1's head struck the ground after falling from the ladder. The fall distance was measured at approximately 16.25 ft from ground level to the second floor level of the apartment complex. Employee #1 suffered a concussion and was hospitalized. Employee #1 remained unconscious for approximately four days while in the hospital.
