Investigation Summary
At approximately 9:45 a.m. on August 30, 1998, Employee #1 was assigned to burn weeds around the building with a torch. The building was a metal building with about .75 in. diameter holes through out the building. The egg cartons contained inside caught on fire when the torch's flame went through the holes in the building. When it was realized that the building was on fire, various employees, including Employee #1, carried water and other materials to put out the fire. While putting on water, some of the water splashed back onto Employee #1's left wrist. The water was hot causing second degree burns. Employee #1 was treated by a doctor and released.
