Event: 05/10/2001
Employee Sustained Fracture of Femur in Fall from Scaffold

Employee #1 was employed as a painter at a new apartment construction site. The general contractor told the painters to use the scaffold that the plastering contractors had erected. However, the scaffold was in an unsafe condition due to poor engineering practices and because some of the ties to the building had been removed. The scaffold was approximately 20 ft tall at the point where Employee #1 was working. The scaffold fell, and Employee #1 sustained a compound fracture of his right femur. He was hospitalized.
