Investigation Summary
At approximately 1:00 p.m. on September 30, 1996, Employee #1, a carpenter, was demolishing a marquee around the front of a building. He climbed a stepladder to access the approximately 15 ft high awning but, on reaching the top, noticed that the ladder was not stable. Employee #1 decided to come down and, as he was descending, the ladder shifted. He fell to the concrete sidewalk and sustained a concussion and six broken ribs.
