Investigation Summary

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on May 3, 2000, Employee #1, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, was doing the distance running element of her physical abilities test on an athletic field track west of the main office building when her left foot became caught in a pothole on the track. She lost her balance and fell, fracturing her left hip. She later stated that the hole was large enough to catch her foot and cause her to fall, but no potholes were found in the area of the track where her fall occurred.
