Investigation Summary
At approximately 3:30 p.m. on September 2, 1999, Employee #1, a 15-year-old office assistant, was assigned to transfer school supplies from one classroom on the east side of the school to classroom 28A on the west side of the school. Another student employee decided that they would use his personal car instead of the push carts to move the supplies due to the large amounts. He had made several trips back and forth between classrooms. During the last trip, they filled the interior of the vehicle full of supplies. There was only enough room in the car for the driver to sit in the driver's seat. Employee #1 was riding on the hood of the 1985 Honda CRX. While traveling westbound through the school campus, Employee #1 slipped of the right portion of the hood onto the ground. He was then run over by the right rear wheel of the vehicle. Employee #1 sustained a head injury and went into respiratory arrest. Employee #1 was pronounced dead at the scene.
