Employee's Thumb Is Amputated in Conveyor Belt

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on December 16, 2006, Employee #1, a laborer, was working at a meat packing facility. He was removing boxes from a conveyor belt and stacking them on a pallet. He was removing boxes from the output conveyor belt of a Loveshaw, Model L016A, and Serial Number 359151016A, mechanized cardboard box assembly machine while the machine was in operation. He caught his left thumb between the conveyors rubber ribbed belt and the end of the machine, which was an unguarded pinch point. His thumb was crushed and required an amputation of the tip.
