Employee Dies From Concussion After Falling From Wall

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on June 16, 2001, Employee #1, a 34-year-old carpenter, was receiving roof trusses that were being placed on the top plate of a wall on a house under construction with a pettibone forklift. He leaned over toward the trusses and apparently lost his balance and fell 10 feet to the ground. He struck his head during the fall and was unconscious when fellow workers found him. Coworkers were temporarily able to clear his breathing. He began breathing while water was being poured over his head. Coworkers called for medial assistance. He was taken to a local trauma center. He was placed on life support but died on at 1:00 p.m. on June 19, 2001 from his head injuries.
