Employee's finger amputated in punch machine

On June 18, 2002, an employee was working in the DNA production area on a Promega Punching machine. The employee was un-jamming the machine when his right hand became caught and his finger was amputated. The punching machine was not deenergized prior to the employee attempting to unjam it. The employee was hospitalized.
