Investigation Summary
At approximately 1:15 p.m. on December 17, 2001, an employee, working for Walden Structures Construction in the welding shop, was setting up a running gear (a member fits in the trailer frame) on a trailer frame for welding. The running gear did not fit inside the frame. The employee tried to push the end of the running gear with his left hand. His right hand was placed on the edge of the trailer frame. As the employee pushed the end down, the running gear fell on his right hand and his right index finger got caught between the frame and the end of the running gear which caused his index finger to be amputated. Right after the accident, he was taken to Healthworks Clinic by another employee and later to Riverside Community Hospital by the same employee. He was hospitalized for 3 days. .
