Employee legs fractured when struck by falling object

At approximately 3:45 p.m. on October 24, 2001, Employee #1 was in the process of lifting two 4-in. by 4-in. by 3-ft wooden boards from the floor of a chip board bales storage area. They were stacked four high and each weighed 900 to 1000 pounds. While lifting the boards two of the four bales from the stack fell. One of the bales landed on Employee #1's legs, fracturing them. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
