Employee killed when head struck by pneumatic conveyor

At 2:50 p.m. on August 22, 2001, Employee #1, a production operator employed by IMC Chemicals Inc., sustained a fatal head injury while attempting to trouble shoot a pneumatic conveyor system as part of his routine production activities. The accident occurred at the employers sodium bicarbonate production facility in Trona, California. Employee #1 was transported by ground ambulance to the Ridgecrest Hospital and subsequently transferred to the Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, California, where he died on August 26, 2001.
