Employee's Leg Fractured When Pinned by Steel Beams

On August 2, 2005, Employee #1 was engaged in structural steel fabrication and erection. He and a coworker had just unloaded a delivery of steel beams. In the process of landing the last steel beam, Employee #1 stepped in-between two existing beams and a 20 ft long, 600-pound beam that was behind him fell. It struck and pinned his right leg between the two beams. He suffered a fracture and was hospitalized.
