Investigation Summary
On March 12, 2005, Employee #1 and a coworker were feeding limbs and brush into a chipper away from the designated trimming area. Other employees were trimming trees at a height of approximately 30 to 40 feet. As one of the other employees made a cut, Employee #1 wandered into the drop zone and was struck on top of the head by the falling limb. He lost consciousness and was transported to a hospital where he underwent surgery and remained hospitalized. Employee #1 was wearing a hard hat at the time of the accident.
