Investigation Summary
At approximately 8:00 a.m. on April 2, 2007, an employee was standing about midway up an 8 foot ladder using a hand saw with an 8 foot extension to remove dead palm fronds that were near the power lines in the front yard of a residential home. The employee lost his balance while sawing these palm fronds causing him to fall off the ladder. The employee fell and landed on a nearby white wooden fence that was situated very low to the ground and located on his left side, causing him to injure his left arm and dislocate his left shoulder, as a result of this fall. The supervisor drove the employee to the Palomar Hospital in Escondido. The employee was in the hospital for several days and received surgery to repair his left dislocated shoulder.
