Employee amputates fingertip between machine and framework

Employee #1, working for a manufacturer of locks and keys, was adjusting an Arco cylinder assembly machine, which detects the grooves in a locking cylinder and relays that information to another machine that makes corresponding cuts in a key. The employee bypassed the safety shut-off switch to speed up the time spent calibrating the machine. The machine moved, catching his right middle finger against the framework. The fingertip was amputated.
