Employee Is Injured in Fall from Second Floor

At approximately 2:40 p.m. on December 6, 2004, Employee #1 was installing a 2-in. by 4-in. plate on the second floor of a building under construction. Employee #1 spread a 2-in. by 4-in. by 16-ft-long plate in an east-west direction on the second floor. Employee #1 was cutting the extra piece that was overhanging the building at the west end. Employee #1 stepped off the west edge of the building and struck the overhanging plate. The overhanging piece broke and Employee #1 fell 10 ft 11-in. to the ground floor. Employee #1 sustained fractures of his left femur, right ankle and injury of his right knee and was hospitalized.
