Carpenter Sustains Head Injuries in Fall from Roof

At approximately 12:46 p.m. on August 7, 2006, Employee #1 was working for a general contractor as a framing carpenter at a new house under construction in Riverside, CA. He was a regular employee of the employer. He and a second framing carpenter nearby were sheathing the roof of a single-story house. Suddenly the coworker heard Employee #1 scream. The coworker looked back toward Employee #1 and saw him lying on the ground after falling approximately 11 feet onto a concrete floor. Employee #1 sustained head trauma injuries, in the form of bruises, contusions, and abrasions, as a result of the fall. He was taken by the Riverside County Fire Department to the Riverside Community Hospital, in Riverside, CA, for treatment. He was hospitalized for six days.
