Employee Is Injured in Fall from Temporary Ramp

At approximately 10:45 a.m. on August 28, 2006, Employee #1 was walking on a temporary ramp at a one-story house being renovated. The ramp was made of a 0.75-in. thick plywood sheet, 8 ft long, and the width of the door opening. The threshold of the door opening was 18-in. above grade. The ramp was not secured or supported to prevent deflection or a springing action. While walking on the ramp, Employee#1 lost his balance. He was injured when he fell off the ramp. He was hospitalized at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for a hip fracture.
