Investigation Summary

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on July 24, 2006, Employee #1, a carpenter, was hammering down plywood sheeting onto the trusses of a one-story residential home. Employee #1 slipped on the sheeting and fell backwards through the bay of a 2-ft truss, approximately 11 feet, and landed on his back on the inside cement floor. Employee #1 tried to catch himself during the fall and scratched his upper and lower left forearm. Employee #1 was transported first to an Urgent Care Clinic, then to the hospital emergency room. He was diagnosed with a fractured and compressed L-1 vertebrae in his mid-back. Employee #1 was in the hospital for approximately one day.
