Employee is injured after falling from ladder

At approximately 3:15 p.m. on January 27, 2004, Employee #1 had just cleaned a window at the employer's shop and was applying caulk to the window. Employee #1 was attempting to climb down a 16-ft extension ladder that was not secured and tied-off. When he stepped off of the roof onto the ladder, the ladder displaced from its position. Employee #1 fell approximately 13 ft and hit the ground. The paramedics transported Employee #1 by ambulance to UCSD Trauma Hospital in San Diego. Employee #1 was in the hospital for four days for two broken wrists, fractured skull, an eye socket injury and massive concussions.
