Employee's finger amputated by radial arm saw

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on March 11, 1996, Employee #1 was making repetitive cuts with a 10 in. radial arm saw when the block he was using for a jig became displaced. He reached for the block with his left hand, not realizing that he was reaching through the blade area. Employee #1's hand struck against the blade, amputating his left middle finger at the first knuckle.
