At approximately 7:00 p.m. on July 15, 1999, Employee #1, a 16-year-old worker for Blue Ribbon Personnel Services in South Lake Tahoe, CA, was adjusting the cutting height of a running lawn mower. His right middle finger contacted the rotating blade and was amputated at the first joint.
