Event: 08/04/1998
Employee fractures skull after passing out, later dies

Employee #1, who worked in a lumber yard, became dizzy and overheated in the late afternoon, when the temperature outside was 111 degrees Fahrenheit. A coworker told him to go inside for a drink, and then to rest for awhile. The foreman later found Employee #1 unconscious, with a severe head injury. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was operated on for a rear skull fracture. Employee #1 died two days later without regaining consciousness. He apparently passed out and fell over backward, striking his head on the concrete floor.
