Event: 09/23/1998
Employee injured in fall from tree while servicing antenna

On September 23, 1998, Employee #1, the chief radio engineer for Western Inspirational Broadcasters, was servicing several FM radio transmitting and receiving antennas that were positioned between 40 and 80 ft in a large pine tree on top of Tahoe Mountain. After servicing the two highest antennas, he climbed down and tied-off to an overhead branch. He was working on the lowest antenna when the branch broke and he fell 40 ft to the ground, where he was found by a hiker. Employee #1 sustained multiple fractures and internal injuries, and was taken by ambulance to Barton Memorial Hospital. He was later flown by Life Flight to Woshoe Medical Center in Reno, NV, where he was hospitalized.
