Employee's Thumb Is Amputated by Meat Cutting Saw

On January 3, 2005, Employee #1 was cutting pork butt by guiding it with his right hand and receiving the slices with his left hand. He reached in front of the band saw and amputated his left thumb to the first joint. Employee #1 was transported to a local urgent care center by his supervisor, where he was treated and released.
