Investigation Summary
On June 8, 2009, Employee #1, who works for a logging company as a choker setter, was struck in the back by the haul back line. Employee #1 was knocked to the ground and struck his face on a rock or piece of wood. Employee #1 stated that he stepped under the haul back line as the yarder turned sideways to land the turn of logs at the landing. Employee #1 said that he forgot that he was standing under the haul back line and that the line would drop to the ground when the turn of logs were landed on the landing. Employee #1 received a light concussion and fractures to his lower jaw and face.
