Employee's Finger Is Caught in Feed Rolls and Is Amputated

On March 16, 2009, Employee #1 was operating was feeding the planer sizing lumber. A board jammed in the feed rolls. The employee used a second board to push on the jammed board. His right hand slipped off the board he was using to push with, and his little finger was smashed between the board and feed roll. His right little finger tip had to be amputated two weeks after this injury due to poor circulation in his damaged finger. Employee #1 was not hospitalized. The feed rolls were guarded, as required.
