Employee's Leg Is Fractured When Struck by Flying Object

On January 20, 2009, Employee #1, a strapper operator, was helping to clear a jam at a wood waste Hog Mill Number 1. He was opening the inspection door on the conveyor feeding into the hog. The door is constructed of 0.375-in. thick metal and the top of the door is 70-in. above the floor. The door has hinge pins at the top and bottom and Employee #1 removed the top hinge pin not realizing the bottom pin was broke. The door fell striking him on his left leg just above his knee. Employee #1's leg was fractured.
