BURNS FM CUTTING TORCH

This employer is a logging contractor. #1 works for the company as a laborer at the company shop and yard in Yreka, California. The company hired #1 to help recycle materials. #1 for an unknown reason decided to cut the top out of a 55 gallon barrel. #1 did not vent the barrel and #1 was not assigned to cut the top out of the barrel. #1 used the acetylene cutting torch without obtaining permission. the barrel top blew off the barrel as #1 was cutting it. #1 was burned on the arms and face. #1 received third degree burns to both arms and second degree burns to his face.
