Employee Suffers Chemical Burns

Employee #1 was one of two laborers on a three-man crew working on a new bridge. After working in the mixer area, Employee #1 entered the pile casing and fed approximately 200 ft of grout hose into the portholes. When one porthole was full, Employee #1 pulled out the hose and feed it to the next porthole. Employee #1's pants were splashed with grout during this hose feeding and pulling operations since Employee #1 was not wearing rain gear pants. The grout burned Employee #1's skin causing chemical burns to the skin on both legs and his left hand. Employee #1 was hospitalized for five days.
