Employee Slips And Falls Backwards, Hitting His Head

On August 10, 2001, Employee #1 parked his car in the dirt parking lot, north of the fruit flume, which was used to move wooden crates into the processing part of the plant. After leaving his car, he walked across the concrete driveway and over to the flume, where his supervisor was. He talked to his supervisor for a few minutes, turned and began walking to go get the forklift to begin his workshift. When Employee #1 was approximately 12 feet from the flume and his supervisor, he slipped on the concrete and fell backwards, hitting the back of his head. He remained unconscious for about 2 minutes. Employee #1 was taken by ambulance to CompCare, then transported to Rideout Emergency for a CAT Scan. The CAT Scan showed that he had a fractured skull. Employee #1 was immediately sent to U.C. Davis Medical Center for additional evaluations.
