Investigation Summary

Employee #1 was lifting large rolls of plastic netting when he fell backward onto some wooden pallets in the turkey freezing area of a poultry processing plant. He suffered from shortness of breath and was taken to the emergency room, where he was prescribed a nine-day course of antibiotics for a respiratory infection, and then released. After a week off, Employee #1 felt stronger and returned to work. He had been performing the same job and activities before the accident without any problems. The employer provided rubber boots for walking on the cold, icy floors, as well as complete cold weather clothing.
