Employee amputates finger while using saw

On July 28, 2005, Employee #1 was operating a 7.25-in circular saw. He was cutting a narrow wood strip, when he amputated a portion of his left index finger. He did not report the accident. The wound did not heal satisfactorily. Eight months later, Employee #1 had the finger removed completely, at which time the employer reported the injury.
