Worker's fingers severely lacerated by table saw

On October 6, 2004, Employee #1, working at the Lamond Company, Inc., was operating an unguarded Makita ten-inch table saw with the blade exposed one inch above the table. He sustained severe lacerations to four fingers, including the thumb, on his left hand. One of the fingers was nearly amputated, but all fingers ultimately were successfully repaired. The employee was hospitalized for two days.
