Two Employees Are Burned When Hot Grease Exploded

On February 29, 2004, Employees #1 and #2 were cooking pork skins in a large vat filled with hot grease (oil). They sustained second-degree burns on face, shoulders, arms, and back after vat filled with hot grease exploded. Located just to the right and above the oil vat, cans of food and spices were located on a shelf. One can of vegetables fell into the hot grease and exploded, throwing hot grease into the surrounding area. The Employees were treated at scene and transported to a medical facility and remained there for 16 days.
