Employee Was Burned From A Tank Explosion

Employee #1, a truck driver, was burned from a tank explosion. His employer is a waste oil company. The company picks up waste oil and other waste products and prepares them for shipping or recycling. Employee #1's job was to pick the waste material up using a truck with a vacuum pump to move the material to the tank on the truck. Employee #1 was preparing to vacuum waste from a gasoline tank. The tank was an above ground tank measuring eleven feet four inches in diameter and thirty three feet tall. He was walking up to the open manhole on the side of the tank when suddenly an explosion occurred. Employee #1 was burned over sixty percent of his body. Employee #1 was airlifted to a burn unit in Sacramento, California.
