Employee Amputates Finger Tip When Using Chop Saw

On July 17, 2001, Employee #1, a boat builder, was reconditioning house boats. Employee #1 was using a chop saw to cut some molding, when he looked up as he made the cut, he cut off the tip of his left index finger. Employee #1 stated that he was not paying attention to his hand placement or to the saw as he made the cut because he was watching a vehicle and its occupant while cutting the mold.
