Investigation Summary
On November 1, 2002, Employee #1 was working in the finish chicken processing area at the Foster Farms plant. The employee was working on the wing cutting machine when a wing fell down inside the machine. Without deenergizing the machine, he opened the guard and reached in to pull out the wing. The machine indexed and amputated his right index finger. He was taken to Stanford Medical Center in Stanford, CA for treatment.
