Investigation Summary
On June 13, 2001, Employee #1 was struck by a 50-ft section of plastic piping when an operator of a crane accidentally hit the swing control lever. The impact of the piping crushed the fingers of Employee #1 as he shielded himself from the blow. He was hospitalized where medical personnel repaired the damage to the digitals injured in the accident, and monitored him with postoperative treatment and care. The operator was attempting to exit the machine with the load suspended and engine running.
