Employee Injured When Hit By Paver

A small construction contractor was paving a rural road to a sewer lift station. Employee #1 works for the company as a truck driver. Employee #1 was on foot next to the spreader. The spreader and a tractor were connected while ascending a grade in the road. Employee #1 stepped between the two pieces of equipment to move some asphalt out of the way. The tractor moved forward and pinned Employee #1 between the bucket on the tractor and the feed bin on the spreader. Employee #1 received fractures to both of his lower legs and was hospitalized.
